BIRDING:

With over centuries of early isolation, preservation, traditional customs and beliefs, and with soundful management, Bhutan’s natural environment still remain pristine and sublime, even at this age of rapid globalization.

A particular attention is given to the conservation of natural environment, for which the government has framed a policy to maintain at least 60 percent of the total land under forest cover. As a step forward for this noble cause, the royal government established four national parks, four wildlife sanctuaries and one strict natural reserve. All these protected areas with profuse vegetation house many endangered species with less significant habitat change. Moreover, our sacred task of upholding the invaluable gift of nature and maintaining a balanced ecological system has always been successful as expected.

In fact, our realization has brought our tiny kingdom on the lime light, thus placing Bhutan among one of the top ten hot spots of biological diversity in the world.
