Inclusive Package Tours
Tourists visiting Bhutan would be on all-inclusive package tours. The tariff is set by the Department of Tourism. The government fixed tariff includes; services of accommodation, meals, transport, guide, entrance fees to monuments and sightseeing.
Reservations
All tours must be booked through a licensed Bhutanese Tour Operator. Entire ground arrangements will be provided by the operator.
Cultural Tours
All cultural tours must be booked before 3 weeks from the date of arrival. And tours during the festival require an advance booking of 7 weeks from the date of arrival. Festivals held in autumn and spring are peak time for the tourists and without early reservations it can be difficult to confirm flights and hotels.
Trekking groups
It is important to do bookings at least 8 weeks in advance as it requires plenty of planning.
Daily Tariff
The tariffs for tourist visiting in a group of three persons or more are as follows:
High Season – US$ 200 per person per night (January, February, March, April, May, June, September, October, November and December)
Low Season – US$ 165 per person per night (July and August)
Surcharges
Individual tourist and smaller group of less than three people shall be subject to surcharge, over and above the minimum daily rates applicable.
For single person: US$ 40 per night
For a group of 2 persons: US$30 per person per night
10% agency commission payable to the agents shall not be deductible from the surcharges.
The surcharges will not be applicable to representatives of foreign travel agents on business study or promotional visit duly approved and cleared by DOT (Department of Tourism)
CANCELLATION
Any tour programmes booked and subsequently cancelled shall be subject to cancellation charges as follows:
Within 30 days from the start of programme – no charges
Within 21 days – 10 % of rate
Within 14 days – 15% of rate
Within 17 days – 30% of rate
Less than 7 days or without notice - 50% of rate
After arrival in Bhutan- 100%
DELAYED ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES
There shall be no charges for delays in arrival and departure because of road blocks or weather conditions disrupting flights. The tourist must however bear the cost of food, accommodation, transportation and other services required..
